Furniture Care Guide
Guide to Furniture Maintenance
- Although your new furniture has been built to exacting standards and with carefully chosen materials, how well it functions will largely depend on how it is used and maintained. Avoid using solvent cleansers or spray polishes as they might harm the finish.
Its lifespan can be increased by following these tips.
CARE FOR FABRIC UPHOLSTERY
- Avoid sitting on arms or edges of your suite since this might distort it and shorten its lifespan. Instead, sit comfortably.
- Do not let sharp objects like jewelry, buckles, toys, or dogs catch the cloth. If snags do appear, use scissors to clip them off rather than pulling.
- Avoid exposing fabrics to direct sunlight on a regular basis as this might cause fading and premature wear.
- If the furniture does not explicitly specify that dry cleaning is suitable, do not use such. To make sure the cleaning technique is appropriate, it would be helpful to test it out first on the back of your sofa.
CUSHION MAINTENANCE
- To maintain the comfort and aesthetic appeal of all fiber-filled and fiber-topped cushions, fluff them vigorously on a regular basis.
FOAM IN THE SEAT
- Within the first few weeks of usage, the interiors of all foam seats may lose up to 20% of their initial hardness; this is quite common and won't have an impact on the seats' long-term function.
Motion Furnishings
- There may be slight squeaks and creaks coming from the motion/recliner action. The large amount of metal moving parts is the reason for this, therefore it shouldn't worry you. The manufacturers disclaim any liability for any premature wear or damage to any part of the footrest material brought on by shoes, shoe heels, or other footwear.
GENERAL CARE FOR LEATHERETTE UPHOLSTERY
- Since leather is a natural material, it may have wart marks, wrinkles, grain variation, hot scars, and other natural marks. These are inherent qualities, not flaws, that highlight the uniqueness of the hide and have no bearing whatsoever on the furniture's performance or longevity.
- The suite and even individual units may have different shades. Swatches, samples, and display models should only be used as a reference to the color, even though every attempt is taken to attain uniformity.
PERIODICAL CARE
- Use a fresh, moist cloth to wipe away any dust, oil, or grime. Steer clear of excessive rubbing and damping since this could harm the hide's surface.
Never use detergents, solvent-based cleansers, or abrasive cleaners.
- Lighter shades may need more care to prevent discoloration from handling, ambient grime, and clothing dye transfer, so pay close attention to them.
- Spills of liquid should be soaked up right away and left to dry naturally away from heat sources.
- Avoid excessive exposure to heat sources and direct sunlight since these can cause the hide to fade and/or dry out, which can lead to splits or fissures.
- Do not allow sharp objects like jewelry, buckles, toys, or dogs to erode the leather's surface.
- Avoid transferring skin or hair products onto the leather as this could result in a chemical reaction with the finish that cannot be undone. High contact areas may develop dark or discolored patches.
- Leather creams, saddle washes, wax polishes, and spray polishes should be avoided since they may negatively impact the leather. Make use of the authorized leather maintenance kits that your shop offers.
